Getting Started
Five minutes from now, you can have your own DotNetNuke site up and running.
- 1. Sign up for our A-200 ($9.95/mo) or other web
hosting plan.
- 2. Login the control panel, add a SQL 2005 database ($15.00/mo).
- 3. In the control panel use the DotNetNuke auto installer page.
- 4. Start working with your website immediately at your temporary URL (in your New Account Confirmation email).
- NOTE: $24.95/mo includes the A-200 plan and SQL 2005 database needed
to support your DotNetNuke web site, but you are free to choose another of our
hosting plans if another plan fits your needs better.
What is DotNetNuke?
DotNetNuke is an open-source Web Application Framework ideal for creating and
deploying projects such as commercial websites, corporate intranets and
extranets, online publishing portals, and custom vertical applications.
DotNetNuke is provided as open-source software, licensed under a BSD
agreement.
In general, this license grants the general public permission to
obtain the software free-of-charge. It also allows individuals to do whatever
they wish with the application framework, both commercially and
non-commercially, with the simple requirement of giving credit back to the
DotNetNuke project community.
DotNetNuke is built on a Microsoft ASP.NET (VB.NET) platform, and is easily
installed and hosted. With a growing community of over 200,000 users, and a
dedicated base of programming professionals, support for DotNetNuke is always
close at hand.
Our History with DotNetNuke Hosting
Aquest Hosting has been hosting DotNetNuke since it was a version 1 product, and
we are very happy to announce that we are now hosting DotNetNuke 4.x.
Multiple Domains and DotNetNuke
Many people want to know about pointing extra domains to their DotNetNuke portal
in order to run child portals. We do allow you to point multiple domains to your
DotNetNuke site.
To accomplish this, you can either add a domain pointer (see pricing)
if you don't need email for the domain name, or add a domain (see pricing) if
you do need email for the domain name. This is easily done using our control panel. Then you need to
add the child portal using your DotNetNuke administration pages.
Full Control
We've had many questions about whether we allow full control of DotNetNuke and full access to your
files and database so that you can add modules and customize the application to your own needs. Some
hosts do not allow this, and it is frustrating to find that you are limited in your use of your own website.
We DO allow you full control over your files and database to make all the modifications that you may want to make.
Your DotNetNuke files are 'your' files, and they are in your site folder where you can easily access them. Database
modifications can be made using Enterprise Manager (SQL Server 2000) or SQL Server Management Studio (SQL Server 2005).
